there’s one other Bethune-Leamen in the world and that’s my sister Katie Bethune-Leamen. Katie is a multimedia artist and lives in Toronto. She is currently building a giant mushroom studio for the Toronto Sculpture Garden to be viewed May. 28/08 – Apr. 15/09. here’s some quick background info via a Toronto Life blurb-

“Last fall, Katie Bethune-Leamen placed her miniature mushroom models, complete with field guide, all over Parkdale. This year, she’s sticking a plus-size version—which will occasionally double as her studio space—in the middle of the Sculpture Garden. The piece sparks a host of allusions, from Alice in Wonderland to Super Mario Brothers, positioning the artist as a kind of magical gnome.“— David Balzer
