i’ve been up until 5 a.m. a lot lately. working. it’s pretty rough on my mind & body. but seems to be the only way to get things done right now. deadlines piled up in some sort of forest that i had to chop away at. the oddness of that metaphor i think reflects perfectly my messy state of mind. but i just wanted to say thank you to my patient friends & family. many who have & are visiting this summer, and i’ve had so little time for you. just thank you for your patience and support.

and thank you for the orders i have been getting too. without them, there would be no SWANny nothin’. [and thank you for Honey-Nut Cheerios while i’m at it…]

ok, yesterday i made this swan chariot tote with accompanying chains and star charm and headband for a local Vancouver Urban Outfitter charity auction. it’s based on my SWANclothing STRAIGHT totes. the chariot customizes a Mini Munny by Kid Robot. people do this, it’s a thing they do. see here for proof…

i’m not sure exactly when the auction is taking place but will post when i know.

it was really really fun to make something i wouldn’t normally and having it actually work out is a bonus. even if people think it is odd, i totally love it :) i mean if i was that small i would certainly want to be carried around in a SWAN chariot mini tote. barking irrelevant [or squeeking?] orders at useless giant humans. demanding grapes! glittery things! and the companionship of butterflies! [see, i told you i was tired].

back on track with a late monday night entry. summer really is here now. blinding sunshine, blue skies and a bit of devil-may-care slips into my days with a sigh and a smile.

thrifted today! 1 pair of 80s esprit humpty type black jeans. nice! and a pair of what look like a cross between black bicycle leggings and capris. twice nice! fresh outfits coming soon.

it’s also nice to get my 1st craft fair under my belt. here are some pics…

the location is so beautiful. an extremely high-ceilinged renovated train station. the walls are almost all glass. and ringed by mountains. i’ll get some more thorough pictures next time. i was so exhausted to document clearly. thank you again to my friends Osama & Mandy for their help!

and i was featured in the Toronto Globe & Mail Style section this weekend. i’ll scan it as soon as i get my hands on one.

just a heads up that the last Sunday of June, July & August 2008 SWANclothing & Totes will be available at the Portobello West fashion & art market in Vancouver BC Canada. so the 1st date is this upcoming Sunday June 29th 12-6pm, $2 admission.

this is the 1st time i’m doing a craft show. i plan on keeping it simple. but all my totes will be there. so come and find me and say hi :)

SHOW PONY. a pioneer store in the somewhat recent reincarnation of the Silver Lake area in L.A. it’s like a store from a fairy tale- “Don’t hate if we open late, we live in a gypsy den…”. and has a bit of everything – store, artists’ works, place of hanging out.

that’s why i am kind of VERY happy that the SWAN totes will be on their way there in the next couple of weeks :)

and i’ve revamped my little corner of that universe. i may not go every day, but i’ll always have a little SWAN parked there…

sort of a new thing for me this advertising. i like my ad. and i like N.E.E.T. magazine. NEET is an online magazine that covers vintage sellers, crafters, streetstyle or individuals with unique style a la wardrobe_remix etc, and handmade items. or as they say "grassroots creativity".

you can find all back issues here. and this ad is in the new June 2008 issue. SWANclothing & Totes were also featured in the March 2007 issue of N.E.E.T. magazine back when i sold vintage too. way back in the day a year ago! hehe.
